Week 4: New Roomates! 9/30/2017

Hello My Beautiful Friends and Family!

I dearly wish that this email finds you all well. If not, Do something!

This week was awesome, as always.

This week, on Thursday I saw Elder (Abe) Israde! Those from the Wyoming Ward might know who that is. He arrived at the MTC on Wednesday and we ran into each other on Thursday. It was so nice to see him. ALSO, if any Wyoming Ward people remember Sister Jenica Chisholm, I was able to see her as well! She works here! So much love!

So, when one is learning a language there are a lot of mistakes and mishaps that go along with that. Many of which result in comic relief. This week some of the girls in my district as well as my companion (Hermana O'Neilll) and I were all talking in Spanish. Hermana Tanuvassa (a sister in my district) was talking about a joke she wanted to write on the board for everyone to see. The word in spanish for joke is ''Chiste'', pronounced ''Cheestay''. Hermana O'Neill was not super paying attention to the conversation and all of a sudden she bursted out, "What about a cheese stick?'' (in english). We were all super confused and then we figured out she though that when we said ''chiste'' she heard ''cheese stick''. We all laughed pretty hard at that one. Jokes and cheese sticks are a little different.

This week I made some really good goals for learning Spanish and I feel super great about my plan! I can already feel the Lord blessing me for my efforts! Speaking of which, this week starting on Monday we are going to do Spanish Semana which means Spanish Week. We (as a district) are going to do a 5 day english fast! PRAY FOR ME. I am going to need all the blessings to be able to successfully elevate my Spanish learning and comprehension this week. I am so excited to see what this week brings.

This week we had some really great lessons with our investigator, Nicky, as well! We had a really awesome lesson about how families can be together forever through the Plan of Salvation! It's amazing to see the Lord work in people's lives. I am so excited to get to Texas and see more of it!

This week on Wednesday we got two new Hermanas in our dorm. They are great! We were really blessed. One is going to California and one is going to Florida and they are both Spanish Speaking missionaries. It's fun to show them around and help them learn Spanish.
Scriptures in Spanish
"The Scriptures are the word of God. They are God's landmarks that show the way we should travel in order to draw closer to our Savior and reach worthy goals."
-Dieter F Uchtdorf

And this weekend is GENERAL CONFERENCE! It's one of two times out of the year that we get to hear directly from living and REAL prophets and apostles of God! If you don't know about it and you want to, got to lds.org
and check it out! I highly encourage you to do so.

I love you all so much and I am so grateful for all of your love and support. Stay strong my friends!

Spanish is going great! It's a process!!!
So Conference with p-day is weird but we just have like all the time before and in between Conference for P-day stuff.
I have been getting the post cards! Thank you!!
I will send you a list of people in my district who want you to write them today!!!! (:
Kit Kats are always appreciated!
So not everyone at the MTC has their p-day on Saturday. I'm pretty sure Abe's isn't today.
I think I have enough clothes for the cooler weather.
My teachers are awesome! We have two that alternate. Hermano Mella and Hermana Fisher. They both served Spanish speaking but grew up in Utah. I appreciate them a lot. In the most recent district picture that I sent, Hermana fisher is in the middle of the sister missionaries. She's the only with a white name tag. She's SO nice. They are like our mom and dad hahaha (:

So I saw Abe again! He said his P-Day is Monday. We are about to watch women's conference while the elders watch the priesthood session. (: I'm pumped but I also am sick of sitting so long haha.

How do you guys feel about Dad's job thing?

I really really loved Elder Rasband's talk today! Which ones did you like the best? What themes did you see? I saw a service theme (:

Please pray for me this week while we do our English fast. It's especially going to be hard because a lot of the people in my district are not too enthusiastic and don't think we can do it. We all need each other's support to do this. I know we can and I know we will be blessed for it. I just want to do everything I can to learn Spanish while I'm here.

The new MTC buildings are really amazing. In one building there's incredible scripture based murals on each floor. They are truly inspiring. My favorite one is if Moses on Mt Sinai. He's on the top of a mountain with the stars all above him. It's amazing.

HEY!!! Here are some missionaries who either need some love or don't
get a lot of mail! They are all in my district and I love them so
much.
