Food for Darlene - 10/1/2018
This week was a great week! One of our investigators named Vida came to church yesterday! She hadn't been progressing a whole lot and so we really didn't think she would come but she did. She liked it but she said it was a bit long haha.
In other news Sister Chavez was sick this week with a cold and allergies. So, we stayed in for one and a half days to let her recoup. I was super bored and I was so happy that she was getting better until I woke up yesterday morning with a minor sore throat and today I woke up with it worse! I'm getting what she had. It's just a bad cold but I'd rather not get it at all.
There were two baptisms in our Branch this week. Adolfo and Daisy. They were both so ecstatic and it was wonderful to see their progress.
OKAY SO, One of the days that Sister Chavez was sick, I was at my desk trying to study some more while she slept when we got a text from Darlene (another one of our investigators). Darlene was cancelling our appointment for that night and because they got their light and water turned off. She also said how she was running out of food for her kids. This is a 9 person family by the way. I dropped to my knees. I didn't know what to do. A member of the Branch had already bought them groceries once before and we couldn't ask them again. I knew that we couldn't possibly expect to fulfill her spiritual needs if her temporal needs were not met. I prayed and asked God what we should do. I thought about a couple things (a box of pasta, a few canned goods) I knew that we had that we could give to her. I felt prompted to get a bag and put them inside to give to her. As I did that, I felt guided to search our whole kitchen. I was rifling through each of our cabinets looking for spare food that we could give her. That's when I dug through our stash of plastic grocery bags. I found THREE bags of food. Three bags! There was no explanation of them being there. We had never seen them before. I said a prayer of deep gratitude and collected all my findings to give to her. I couldn't believe it. We delivered them that day much to the joy of that lovely family.
I know God is real. I know God placed that food there for Darlene and her family. I know that having a strong relationship with your Heavenly Father is the single most important thing you can have in this earthly life. It will guide you, protect you, and bless you like you could never imagine.
Pictures: out new bamboo plant, some of the food for Darlene, and some crazy old dogs that a member owns. The smaller one always has his tongue hanging out of his mouth. And Sister Chavez with a sheep.
I love you all and I hope you have a fantastic week!
